This is a wonderful opportunity to experience an amazing yoga retreat with the added value of an Ayurveda Workshop by Dr Donn Brennan.

There will be 3 yoga classes lead by our inspirational yoga teacher Liz Richards and in addition we will have the privilege of an informative and highly entertaining talk about Ayurveda from one of the worlds leading Ayurveda experts and GP, Dr Donn Brennan.

*You dot not need to have any experience of yoga, meditation or Ayurveda to take part in this retreat.

Ayurveda is for everyone and all levels of yoga are welcome! Ayurveda is one of the worlds most ancient natural holistic healthcare systems, it is a fascinating subject and by implementing some small and simply changes to your lifestyle and routine you can dramatically improve the quality of your life.

The wisdom of Ayurveda determines that each of us are very unique in our constitution and makeup and therefore we all have specific and different needs in the management of our overall health and wellbeing.
As with diet, herbs, colours, aromas, seasons, etc – Ayurveda sheds light on which specific Asanas (Postures) are best for each individual based on his/her constitution.  With some knowledge and understanding  of Ayurveda, a practitioner of Yoga can learn how to refine his/her practice so it is in harmony with their internal balance of energy while remaining in synergy with nature and the ever-changing cycle of  the seasons. These valuable tools can be used also to restore balance when ever life takes us off course.In the three Yoga sessions over this weekend we will take a look at the many different approaches and styles of yoga on offer in the western world and their suitability in relation to the three doshas and their various combinations.  We will look at the parallels between what are known as the three Gunas (qualities of nature) of Rajas, Tamas and Sattva in relation to the three Ayurvedic doshas of Vata, Pitta & Kapha and exolore  how they  interplay with one another.  We will also discuss how to honour our unique Ayurvedic makeup and individual needs in a “one size fits all” public yoga class setting where more often than not many of the sequences, asanas and pace of the class may be unsuitable for many if adhering  to the principles of Ayurveda. It sounds more complicated than it is! It is actually very straightforward and easy to understand and implement.

Instructor

Liz Richards is a registered SYT (Senior Yoga Teacher) with Yoga Alliance Professionals UK  with over 1000 training hours behind her. She has been teaching Yoga full time since 2009.

 

She teaches Classical Yoga using the Vinyasa Krama system and Hatha Yoga principles for all levels from Beginners – Advanced students and her teaching is firmly rooted in the lineage of Krishnamacharya.

Throughout her yoga journey to date, Liz has explored and practiced many different forms of and approaches to yoga and has taken workshops and trainings with senior international teachers in all.   These include Iyengar,  Ashtanga, Vinyasa Krama & Viniyoga.

She is grateful every day for the opportunity to share the little knowledge she has acquired and is humbled to find that as first and foremost a student of yoga herself, it is in fact her students who are among her best teachers.

I am hooked! This was my first yoga retreat and I was nervous as I wasn't sure what to expect, plus I was going solo! Well it turned out to be a wonderful weekend from beginning to end. It was so relaxed, welcoming and fun. The accomodation and surroundings are breathtaking and the food is delicious. My recent stay was an amazing experience. As a first-timer at Yoga I was nervous of not keeping up in the classes. However our instructor Ann structured the class so everyone from total novice (me!!) upto instructor level (who was also attending the classes) were all fully included. The location and the buildings are amazing. The rooms are really comfortable and were renovated with a passion to detail. The courtyard buildings provide a really tranquil setting for the Yoga weekend. The food is amazing. I was amazed at the quality, taste and standard of presentation. Award winning in its own right. I highly recommend a visit and think I will be back very soon!!

From the moment we arrived, we knew our weekend would be one to remember. The setting is beautiful, great food and accommodation, but most of all a warm welcome from Olivia and her family. The group was varied with yoga ability at all levels, so everyone felt included and looked after by Liz, our terrific teacher. The Courtyard is a very special place. Stunning location in the wicklow mountains and then you have the buildings that have been renovated beautifully to create a calm restful open space. The yoga classes with Liz Richards were incredibly well planned so as to be suitable for a large group with mixed ability from total beginner to a teacher trainer. Don Brennan gave a 2 1/2 hour talk on ayerveda that was simply fascinating. I floated home after a weekend retreat and will absolutely be back. Thank you Olivia, that was exactly what I needed.

An absolutely amazing weekend. Olivia and her family are so incredibly welcoming and professional. The location is just stunning and so calming. They've done such brilliant job at restoring it. You can see how much love and hard work went into it. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it (which is important after lots of yoga!)
